I KNEW A STORY WAS CALLING ME!

I don't want to just succeed,

but rather fearlessly engage in a world in which love is so fearfully exchanged.

Most of our greatest fears are relational, it's all that stuff about forgiveness

and risking rejection and learning to love.

I want a story that glorifies my God.

A GOOD story starts with a CHARACTER...

Who wants SOMETHINg,

and overcomes conflict to get "IT."

(Thats the essence of it anyway.)

Most of us have no clear idea of what we want.

Vague ambition almost never gives your life meaning.

Or gets you anywhere in particular.

There is a force in the world that doesn't want us to live good stories.

It doesn't want us to face our issues, to face our fear and bring something beautiful into the world.

"Resistance, a kind of feeling that comes against you when you point toward a distant horizon,

is a sure sign that you are supposed to do the thing in the first place."

-Steven Pressfield

As soon as you point toward the horizon, life no longer feels meaningless.

Suddenly there is risk in your story and a question about whether you'll make it.

The character has to jump into the story, into the discomfort and the fear.

Otherwise the story will never HAPPEN

The most often repeated commandment in the bible is "Do not fear."

It's in there over two hundred times.

The great stories go to those who don't give into fear.

To many people live life like their writing a book, they just say THINGS.

But we have to SHOW it, a character is what he DOES.
